We anticipate direct impacts to Clay County Utility Authority's (CCUA) service area. Based upon the latest information from the Clay County Emergency Management Department(CCEMD),dated 10 a.m. EDT,Tuesday, September 27, 2022, we anticipate the reasonable on-set of tropical storm force winds to begin sometime late Wednesday to very early Thursday morning, September 29, 2022. The CCEMD stated Clay County has not experienced sustained tropical storm force winds since 1964. Beyond the tropical storm force winds, the CCEMD communicated a heavy rain event of 10-15 inches should be expected, with heavier rain amounts possible. We currently anticipate the wind and rain to begin L either late Wednesday evening or very early Thursday morning, continuing through Friday, September 30, 2022, and conclude sometime Saturday, October 1, 2022. Based upon the information above, I am activating a System Emergency beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The attached list of employees will serve as essential staff for the System Emergency. I will coordinate directly with David Rawlins, General Superintendent Distribution and Collection as he is assisting with Chief Operations Officer duties, for the execution of safe disaster response and recovery duties. Melisa Blaney, Service Availability Manager, and Dennis Ragosta, Public and Government Affairs Liaison, will serve as CCUA's representatives at the Clay County Emergency Operations Center(EOC). The CCUA office will be closed to the public beginning Thursday, September 29,through Friday, September 30, 2022. Staff has been notified of the office closure and the intention to reopen for business operations beginning, Monday, October 3, 2022. In addition to these emergency actions, I communicated with each the Board of Supervisors, so they are aware of these directions and intended actions.
