HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.a 30th PROCLAMATION Final PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING AND COMMEMORATING THE 30THANNIVERSARY OF CLAY COUNTY UTILITY AUTHORITY Recognizing and commemorating the 30th anniversary of the creation and existence of Clay County Utility Authority. WHEREAS, October 1, 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the creation and existence of Clay County Utility Authority(CCUA); and WHEREAS, CCUA was created by a special act of the Legislature of the State of Florida, which was filed with the Secretary of State for the State of Florida on June 2, 1994,became law without approval of the Governor of the State of Florida on June 3, 1994, and was codified as Chapter 94-491, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1994,to be effective October 1, 2024; and WHEREAS,On October 1, 1994,CCUA's initial Board of Supervisors,consisting of Jerry Agresti, Tim Alters, Talmadge Bennett, Jewel Futch, Ron Kart, Timothy Radigan, and Jean Varga, held its initial public meeting at the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Fourth Floor, Administration Building, 477 Houston Street, Green Cove Springs, Florida, to organize CCUA as a separate independent legal entity, and to conduct the initial business of CCUA; and WHEREAS, the CCUA's Board of Supervisors have regularly and continuously met in regular session twice a month since that initial organizational meeting,to continue to conduct the business of CCUA for service to the public and betterment of Clay County,Florida,and also of those portions of Duval County, Florida, and Bradford County,Florida, served by CCUA; and WHEREAS, the CCUA now serves nearly 55,000 commercial, residential, and bulk rate customers, constituting approximately 151,800 persons daily receiving benefit of CCUA's water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utilities systems; and WHEREAS,the Board of Supervisors wish to acknowledge and extend their sincere appreciation and recognition to its founding organization, the Clay County Board of County Commissioners, and all other founders, supporters, vendors, developers, community leaders, ratepayers, public bodies, and public officials who have been instrumental to formation, growth, and successful expansion of public utility services provided by CCUA to its communities; and WHEREAS, CCUA is committed to serving as a responsible, forward-looking public utility for Northeast Florida, partnering with counties and municipalities within and affected by CCUA's service territory, to ensure a safe, resilient, and sustainable environment and communities for our ratepayers and residents; and WHEREAS,CCUA's management, staff, agents,and vendors are committed to public service and fiscal responsibility as public stewards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors for the Clay County Utility Authority encourage agencies, businesses, and all members of the public to celebrate the advancement of public water wastewater, and reclaimed water utility services in their respective communities, and the enhanced conservation of public resources made possible by the creation of CCUA; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors for the Clay County Utility Authority pledge to continue to implement responsible, forward-thinking, conservation focused, and fiscally responsible leadership in providing public water,wastewater, and reclaimed water utility services to its public in Clay, Duval, and Bradford Counties,Florida, and be it further RESOLVED,That the Clay County Utility Authority Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize October 1, 2024 as the 30th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF CLAY COUNTY UTILITY AUTHORITY as the public water,wastewater,and reclaimed water utility services provider for Clay County,Florida under Chapter 94-491, Laws of Florida, and reminds individuals, organizations, and other public bodies of the importance of CCUA in providing necessary public water,wastewater, and reclaimed water utility services to the citizens, businesses, organizations, public entities, and communities served by CCUA, while protecting and preserving our important Florida environment.
