I appreciate the chill in the air overnight knowing temperatures will most likely be in the 6os and dos by noon.Winter in Florida! Christmas is 14 days away. I hope everyone has coordinated your holiday schedules. Everyone wants to enjoy time with • . their family and friends over the holidays. To accomplish this goal along with maintaining safe operations, our supervisors should have received everyone's PTO requests by now so the holiday schedules can be coordinated and communicated with outside stakeholders. 1 We will gather for CCUA's Annual Holiday Luncheon on Thursday, December 12th. The Wellness Committee are putting together a festive Winter Wonderland event. We will recognize our colleagues who are appreciated during the Holiday Luncheon. We have colleagues representing CCUA at the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA)Fall Conference. Please offer your support to our Hydrant Hysteria competitors of Marvin Short, Patrick Laniel, Lindsey Estevez,and Ashley Taliaferro.In addition,please offer your support to our Meter Challenge competitors of Matt Jeffers and Brian Peeples.We are cheering our CCUA teams in friendly competitions. After an informative first day,several keynote speakers discussed various water policies,potable reuse,a legislative review,and the protection of Florida's coast.We are grateful to have attended and connected with other water policy legislators in the state! 9 Steps to Protect your pipes • Seal drafts around fixtures • Insulate pipes in colder • areas • Disconnect & drain outdoor • 4 water sources • Drain lawn irrigation systems B • Turn off the main water i/ supply if you're away for an extended period. Protect your home from freezing temperatures with these simple steps: • Seal drafts around fixtures to prevent cold air from entering. • Insulate pipes in colder areas to avoid freezing. • Disconnect and drain outdoor water sources before temperatures drop. • Properly drain lawn irrigation systems according to the manufacturer's guidelines. • Report any issues with meter lids. If you're going to be away for an extended period, adjust your home's thermostat to at least 55°F or turn off the main water supply. io ""111111411111441111141111111111111:t' O Use a paper towel = Wipe oily pots,pans,and dirty dishes with a paper .. towel.Place used paper towel in the garbage. 0 Use a cup Pour liquid fats,oils,and grease into a paper coffee cup.Cover with the cup's lid. 0 Put it in the freezer F I Let the contents harden or place in your freezer to freeze the contents. OPut it in the garbage Place the entire cup in your clear garbage bag just before coming to the landfill. © Mindful garbage disposal use n t Do not put grease down garbage disposals.Limit food in the garbage disposal,as it can cause public sewer issues. \ Are you planning your Christmas dinner?Don't forget about those FOGs:Fats,Oils,and Grease. These donations are then used to pay the bills of those with temporary hardships.
