We reached 2025! Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a great holiday season with family and
friends.

We expect this year to be very busy. The population in Clay County will continue to grow. This means
the number of customers we serve will also continue to grow.We remain in a great position with the
construction of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure in advance of the population
growth.
On January lot', we hosted the annual tour of our facilities for the Board of Supervisors, we also
welcomed interested stakeholders. Everyone did a great job. The feedback I received from Board
members and others in attendance was very positive.Thank you to everyone involved with the planning
and logistics with the tour!

We greatly appreciate Kenny's quiet and consistent leadership. We wish him the best as he enjoys his
retirement.

Lastly,we have been experiencing cold snaps with frost in the morning. This means cold and flu season
has arrived. Please take care of yourself. If you are not feeling well, please stay home. By resting and

caring for yourself, you are actually caring for our team by not spreading the bacteria and viruses that
make people ill.Thank you for staying home when you are not feeling well.
We look forward to a healthy and productive 2025.Thank you for doing a great job every day! Stay safe.

CCUA staff brushed up on CPR training.Immediate CPR can significantly increase a person's chance
of survival after a cardiac arrest, often doubling or tripling the likelihood of a positive outcome. In an
emergency medical situation, every second counts and having CPR training could save a life.

CCUA greatly appreciated everyone who attended the tour with our Board of Supervisors of the Peters
Creek Water Reclamation Facility and Project Quench Ribbon Cutting! We saw the Wharton-Smith
team working on the final steps to bring the first phase of the Peters Creek facility on-line. Our team
also presented at the Project Quench facility to highlight our potable reclaimed water efforts.

Meet Madison, she's one of CCUA's Environmental Scientists. She,along with our operators,
performs bacteriological testing at select homes in our service area. They test more than i5o homes in
a month.
These tests look for the presence of total coliform and E.coli.According to the Environmental
Protection Agency, total coliforms are used to determine the adequacy of water treatment and the
integrity of the distribution system.
These bacteriological tests include the following simple steps:
• Choose a spigot in the front yard of the selected home.
• Disinfect the spigot.
• Attach an adapter and fill up a 10o mL sterile bottle to collect the sample.
• Transport samples for testing.
We test the amount of chlorine in your water on-site.If you see our Environmental Scientists or
operators conducting test, feel free to ask them any questions about your water quality!

As our community grows,CCUA is exploring alternative water supplies to supplement and sustain our
first and best source, the Floridan Aquifer. One alternative source many of us use right now is
reclaimed water—typically used for outdoor irrigation.Alternative supplies take a long time to
investigate and plan, but CCUA is starting now.
Project Quench is exploring one such potential alternative, called potable reuse. It is taking reclaimed
water used for irrigation and providing additional treatment to exceed drinking water
standards.CCUA conducted a ribbon cutting on January loth for a pilot facility to investigate this
alternative. This is a pilot demonstration only—the water produced is returned to the sewer and not
used in the water system.
The purpose is to demonstrate advanced water treatment processes, expand operator training, and
engage the public in this potential future supply. CCUA,in partnership with Carollo Engineers,is
running the facility's testing for a 12-month period.
To ensure continued high-water quality, ongoing research and sampling is performed throughout the
demonstration facility. Our operators take monthly water quality samples at each point of the six
stage,multi-barrier treatment process. We are currently in the end quarter of testing, and so far,
results are looking great.
If you would like to learn more about this project, reach out to the Engineering Department or visit
Project Quench.
