February 2025
We experienced some un-Florida like winter weather just before February arrived. While the forecasts
for Clay County did not materialize, CCUA experienced our first ever winter closure,or"snow day" in
coordination with Clay County and Emergency Management officials. Several colleagues were looking
forward to seeing snow, but I am thankful that the freezing rain and snowfall forecasts did not become
reality.I enjoy living in Florida for its warm weather.
Our team held our third annual hurricane disaster workshop and war-gaming session. I greatly
appreciate and value the leadership and teamwork demonstrated by everyone who attended and
participated. The team's communication and engagement were impressive to watch. This annual
workshop significantly enhances our preparation for hurricane season. One day,we will face the direct
impacts of a hurricane, and by working together,we will be better prepared for that day.Thank you to
everyone involved.

approved by the Board of Supervisors. Our Procurement Manager, Angelia Wilson, has been busy
preparing and coordinating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the implementation and
execution of this Procurement Policy. You will hear more about this significant modernization soon.
Looking ahead, March marks the beginning of our budget planning process. If you have specific
requests, such as tuition assistance or equipment needs, please coordinate with your supervisor so we
can include this information in the budget preparation. We will present the draft Fiscal Year 2025/2026
Budget to the Board of on May 20th.

CCUA was recently featured in the February 2025 issue of the Florida Water Resources Journal about
our Project Quench potable reuse initiative. Our very own Joe Paterniti, the Florida Water
Environment Association(FWEA)President, wrote a detailed article on the two treatment process
options CCUA explored for this project--RO-Based and Carbon-Based.It also explains what some of
the other alternative water supply methods are and how we are using Project Quench to identify
critical issues like sustainability and develop innovative options like this demonstration facility.
