Mr. Farris,
We understand your concern. For most residential accounts, sewer charges are based on the amount of water
that flows through the meter because there is not a separate system measuring how much water enters the
wastewater system. This is a standard practice among utilities for residential wastewater service.
Because the billing system cannot distinguish between indoor water use and outdoor irrigation when calculating
residential sewer charges, residential wastewater charges are capped at 10,000 gallons per 30-day billing cycle.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you,
Ashley Taliaferro

Questions or Comments
How can your water usage be calculated into sewage usage if some of the water is used to water your grass and never enters
the sewer or goes down a drain line? Isn't that dishonest?
The number used for sewage usage is just based on how much water is used. But if I am watering my grass why am I paying for
sewage charges on that water? It evaporates off the grass it doesn't go into the sewer.
